Hand-Stitched Layout | ACOT DT

Hand stitching is bar none, one of my favorite techniques in scrapbooking. Second only to fussy cutting all the florals, it's a fun and easy way to add texture and interest without getting messy! When I first spotted these hearts in Amy Tangerine's Slice of Life collection, I was determined to fussy cut and stitch them just like this onto a layout. They were just begging for it!

The brilliant contrast of these bold colors on the black patterned paper background is truly one of my go-to designs at the moment! I also love how the stitched hearts draw your eye up to the photos of my adorable daughter playing with her new favorite toys, a choice that surprised me when she gravitated toward them.

Adding in details like wood veneer, puffy stickers, glitter sequins, and tiny fussy cut florals on the hearts gave them a bit more personality and interest, but not so much as to draw attention away from the photos. The sequins are stitched onto the layout so they won't move around when this layout goes in the album.

Overall, this is a fairly busy layout, but I purposely kept the busiest embellishing close to the photos so that they are truly the stars of the show! I always try to keep my photos as the focal point to any layout and this one is no different!

Here is this layout in process:
