Magical Birthday | ACOT DT

We are diving into the stunning Echo Park Magical Birthday collection to scrap these three photos from my daughter's 2nd birthday. I love the bright, happy colors in this collection and knew I could fussy cut lots of embellishments from this one! I used a three rows design (modified grid) to celebrate these photos.

I fussy cut these balloons and these chalkboard icons from the pattern papers and layered them together next to the first photo. I added stars and streamer stickers from the 12x12 sticker sheet. A little bit of gold Nuvo drops and splatters adds a bit of fun to this cluster!

On the second row, I used tags and a birthday cake for the cluster, with a “birthday” sticker overlapped. I also added two borders around the entire layout, one with pink polka dots (to match the photo mats) and the beautiful multi-colored plaid.

On the bottom row, I added a couple of clusters filled with these fussy cut decorations, mixing in streamers stickers, and Nuvo drops. I added a few flag stickers behind the chalkboard fussy cut icon, and then layered a “surprise” sticker over the photo.

I hope this project inspired you to try out this three rows design! To see this layout come together, please check out the video below!

Wedding Wednesday! | Cocoa Vanilla Studio DT

For “Wedding Wednesday,” I decided to use an old photo and an older collection! This photo of my matron of honor and the best man from my wedding is one that I knew More Than Words would be perfect for, the lovely mix of pinks, yellows, and pale blues are just lovely. I started with a long column of journaling on the left side because I knew I wanted to document why these two people are so special to my husband and I.

I wanted to use the chipboard words for my title because they added a bit of texture and dimension to the layout and nestled in the “remember this” ephemera piece just above them. As usual, I fussy cut the white borders off of all the flowers to get a nice cohesive look when they’re clustered together. I really enjoy fussy cutting and find it incredibly relaxing!

This larger cluster was a combination of an old cut file from the Silhouette store that I’ve had sitting on my desk for ages and the floral ephemera. I started by cutting off the smaller florals that would otherwise be hidden under the photo, backed the open areas with patterned paper, and layered in leaves and florals. Adding touches of gold Nuvo to the centers of the florals and as trails behind the butterflies gives a lovely bit of deal.

I also created a sketch based on this layout to show how all of the layers fit together and make it easier for your to recreate the design if you’d like to!

I hope this story-based layout inspires you to add a bit of extra journaling to your pages too! To see how the “Happy & Sweet” layout came together, check out the process video below!

Using Up Scraps with Punches! | Cocoa Vanilla Studio DT

Hey y'all! Laura Alberts back again with a fun boy layout! This is an update for my son's album of his new style, glasses and very long hair. I used the gorgeous Legendary collection, especially the All Star patterned paper and the die cut ephemera. Starting with the larger stars, I created a border on either side of my photos that frame the images in the center. I added gradually smaller and smaller stars, many punched from scraps leftover from previous projects! To add a bit of detail, I added dots of Nuvo for a splattered effect.

I used the die cut titles that accompanied this collection for my "Cool Dude" as well as a phrase sticker from the 6x12 sticker sheet. In the gap between the photo and the title, I squeezed in a quick note about his updated appearance, which has changed quite a lot in the last year! Enamel dots were perfect to add a bit of dimension to some of the stars as well.

On a few of the larger stars, I added small word phrase stickers with angles cut into the edges or arrows from the die cut pack. I love the way this mix of colors worked so well with my photos and was glad to find some of the scraps I had punched were red, which is a common color for my boys to wear! Once I added a neutral border to contain all the flying stars, it felt complete!

I hope this star-filled layout inspires you to look at your scraps a little differently! You can use punches and fussy cutting to use up even the smallest bits and pieces in a collection! To see how the "Cool Dude" layout came together, check out the process video below!
