Explore ~ Scraplift | Legendary Collection | Cocoa Vanilla Studio DT

Hey y’all! I’m back with a super fun scraplift of one of our amazing Facebook Group’s members! This is a stunning layout by Lisa Johnston for the mood board challenge on International Scrapbooking Day and it just grabbed my attention! It was so lovely, layered, and filled with butterflies, so of course it was calling to me! I decided to take on her grid style, but add some extra photos and a masculine theme.

I started with the Offbeat patterned paper for the background. So, for each part of the grid, I essentially created a mini layout with a background, focal image, and detail work. On this top right corner, I was super excited to use this bear face as these animals were a brilliant inclusion in the Legendary Collection! I layered in some stars and cut-apart pieces, then some Nuvo, enamel dots, and ink splatter.

For this bottom right area of the grid, I did a bit of layering along with another bear ephemera piece (because my son was in the Bears level of scouts). The outdoorsy theme of this collection is perfect for camping photos and scouts, which I needed! With three kids in scouts, this has been such a fun collection to scrap both my daughter and my sons’ photos!

My favorite part of the grid, however, is this center left section. I have wanted to get a compass and mountains onto a layout every since I first opened this collection! Such cool icons and together they make a brilliant cluster for a camping layout.

I hope Lisa’s layout inspires you as much as it did me! If you’d like to see this layout come together, I have the process video below. Be sure to check in each day to see what the rest of the team has created based on our wonderful followers inspiration.

"Love You" | Happiness Collection | Cocoa Vanilla Studio DT

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is IMG_7162-1024x1024.png

Hey y’all! Laura here, sharing a wedding layout using the beautiful Happiness Collection. I absolutely love this gorgeous patterned paper, Expressive, and had to use it for the background. It has such a beautiful mixed media design to it with little marks that appear hand-drawn, stunning! I decided to add a landing spot for my photo.  With just a few scraps of papers from the little bit of extra media via texture paste through a stencil to create a 6×8 paper pad along the left side of the photo helps create a defined foundation.

I tucked in several floral ephemera pieces on the left side of the photo along with a few butterflies that I fussy cut from the 6×8 paper pad for a bit of fun. A couple of flags from the sticker sheet on the corner of the cluster. The title is layered along the bottom corner, overlapping a journaling spot with a sweet message about my darling husband.

Starting at the bottom right corner, I created a kaleidoscope of butterflies fluttering off toward the top, left corner, a few overlapping the photo. With a little bit of Nuvo Glitter Drops to create butterfly trails, it gives the appearance of movement on the layout. A little bit of gold ink splatter finishes off the edges!

I hope you found some inspiration in this wedding layout! It was so much fun to fussy cut out all of these beautiful butterflies from the Bright & Beautiful patterned paper. I find if I just adhere the butterflies at the center and leave the wings free it gives a fun 3-D look without adding bulk. Below is the process video for this layout, enjoy!

Using a Page Maps' Sketch! | ACOT DT

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is 430513-600x600-258.jpg

I was incredibly inspired by the May sketch shared in the Cherry Crafter’s Facebook group this week! I couldn’t wait to dive into my favorite collection from spring, Pink Paislee’s Bloom Street, to scrap this photo from my wedding!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is img_7084.png

I loved the area for plenty of journaling on this sketch because I usually have a LOT to say, especially about my darling matron of honor! I am a huge fan of pre-made journaling spots and this floral one was just made for a soft, wedding layout!

I created three clusters of florals around my layout which is using a design principle called the “visual triangle.” By creating three points on the layout of interest, it guides your eye to the center of that triangle and straight to my photo!

The small details are truly my favorite though, the Gold Crystal Nuvo drops create jewel-toned accents around the clusters as well as little flying trails behind my bees and butterfly! Love that sweet little detail on my layouts and use it quite often.

I hope this layout inspires you to try out the May sketch as well! Be sure to join the Cherry Crafter’s Facebook group to find inspiration every single week!

June 2020 ACOT Hop

Welcome to the Catherine Pooler ACOT Hop! Myself and the rest of the A Cherry on Top team are diving into the newest collection from Catherine Pooler, Flutters and Blooms! It's such a fun, spring-themed stamp/die set, I was super excited to play with it.

I decided to stamp out some butterflies onto the background and then re-stamp them on cardstock to create a shadowed 3-D look. Sprinkling in the tiny flowers around the butterfly kaleidoscope cascading across the page gave it a whimsical feel that just perfectly captures my sweet little girl. She loves to fly as she hops around the trampoline!

Nuvo makes the perfect butterfly trails and tiny details around a sweet cluster here and there. Adding some Heidi Swapp Color Shine splatter all around and then inked the edge of the page! I absolutely adore this layout, it absolutely illustrates the bubbly energy and excitement of my girls when the weather warms up enough for backyard fun! Spring has sprung!
